H - PANEL CONNECTOR
To ensure a solid
INSTALLATION, we recommend at least a 4”overlap on all window
sides. Proper measuring and cutting is extremely important.
THESE INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOR THE “H - PANEL CONNECTOR” SYSTEM.
- This instruction guide is
for connecting 2 or more boards together. E.g. Sliding glass
doors, large windows & openings.
- Follow instructions for
standard openings: see standard installation instructions
e.g. allow 4” overlap on 3 sides the fourth side will be the
side with the panel connector. H - Panel connectors come in
8’ or 16’ lengths to accommodate most openings and should be
cut to size.
- Cut matching panels for
opening and allowing for the panel connector. Note: You
should have two equal sized panels with a 4” overlap around
the opening with a panel connector located in the middle. (Fastening
instructions below).
- Fastening the panel
connector. The H - panel connector should extend 4” beyond
the opening to match the panels.
- Note: When using
Storm-Busters® Fastrac® cut panel connector 1.5” shorter
at each end or a total of 3” to allow for header and
F-track. .
- To attach panel to the
opening, begin drilling the holes around opening. Start 6”
from a corner. Using a 1” reveal, drill the holes every 14”
O.C. for Storm-Busters® 16 and 10” O.C. for Storm-Busters®
Clearview, using a 7/32” masonry drill bit for solid
concrete and 3/16” drill bit for concrete block. Drill
approximately 3” into the wall (the combined depth of a 5/8”
panel plus 2.5” in the wall.
- The panels are attached to
the H - Panel Connector by sliding one of the custom cut
panels into the H-panel connector with the nipple. This
will secure the panel with the connector, once placed on the
opening and fastened loosely in place. The other custom cut
panel simply slides into the H-panel connector. This panel
loosely fits into the H – Panel Connector; follow standard
panel fastening procedures to complete installation.
- Remove panel and install
the Panelmates/Tapcon SG™ to all holes, place panel over
fasteners and attach hardware.
